Two brothers of a local congregation were going door to door, and knocked on the door of a woman who was not happy to see them. She told them in no uncertain terms that she did not want to hear their message and slammed the door in their faces.

To her surprise, however, the door did not close, but in fact, bounced back open. She tried again, really putting her back into it, and slammed the door again with the same result - the door bouncing back open.

Convinced these rude young people were sticking their foot in the door, she reared back to give it a slam that would teach them a lesson, when one of them said, "Um, Ma'am, before you do that again, you need to move your cat."

A ducks walks into a bar and asks, "Got any grapes?"

The bartender, confused, tells the duck that 'no', his bar doesn't serve grapes. The duck thanks him and leaves.

The next day, the duck returns and says, "Got any grapes?"

Again, the bartender tells him that, no, the bar does not serve grapes, has never served grapes, and, furthermore, will never serve grapes.

The duck, a little ruffled, thanks him and leaves.

The next day, the duck returns, but before he can say anything, the bartender begins to yell: "Listen, duck! This is a bar! We do not serve grapes! If you ever ask for grapes again, I will nail your little duck bill to the bar!"

The duck is silent for a moment, and then asks, "Got any nails?"

Confused, the bartender says, "No".

"Good", says the duck... "So got any grapes?"

Heeeeeere's Johnny!

One of my good friends and an MTS grad came down last Wednesday from North Carolina to vistit us down here in Texas. Jonathan is his name, if you're looking for someone to blame... (just some rhyming humor) ANYWAY, it has been a good week for all of us. We had shown him the San Antonio Assembly Hall, downtown and the Riverwalk, introduced him to friends, took him to a grad party that we dj'd for, which was a lot of fun, and he gave an excellent talk on Sunday. And of course, we hung out at the house, enjoying the company. It would have been nice if he was here for more than 5 days, but it was a good 5 days. Now it's my turn to go to N.C.! I might be going in December to hang with my homie. So I'll be looking forward to that, I'll be sure to wear my cowboy hat, if I remember where I left it at....

Fettucini Alfredo

A while back, I visited one of my pal's and classmate Alfredo G. down in Kerville, Texas. My family and I went down there to visit the congregation and, while others were supposed to accompany us, they DIDN'T. Anyway, it was a nice mini-trip. We got to meet his parents and his lil bro. They are fine folks, as are the rest of the brothers and sisters there, with whom we got a chance to conversate with at lunch.

But we did get there a bit early. So we had to wait outside the Kingdom Hall for about an hour and a half....

Yeah, we - I mean, I was getting kinda bored.

But all in all, it was fun being with them and seeing Freddy again. This dude is an awesome brother. Maybe that's why he's getting burried - I mean married later this year....

The Goodfeathers

The other day, I rediscoverd one of the greatest cartoons of my generation: Animaniacs.

As a kid, I really didn't appreciate it. It was just another cartoon. But now, IT'S FUNNY! For example, we have Pinky and the Brain.

"What are we gonna do tomorrow night, Brain"

"Same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world."

Then, we have, my favorites, The Goodfeathers.

Bobby, Squit, and Pesto, Pesto being the one that can't take a compliment.

Here's a quote from this trio:

Squit: "I just want to be a tough bird, like you, Pesto!"
Pesto: "What do you mean by that?"
Squit: "I said you're a tough bird, that's all."
Pesto: "You sayin' that I'm an overdone piece of meat? Is that what you're sayin'? What am I, a plate of dried steak-butt meat, here to amuse you?"
Squit: "No, I didn't say that! I just mean you're tough."
Pesto: "I'm tough?"
Squit: "Yeah, you're tough."
Pesto: ".... That's it! Tough? I'll show you "tough"! You want "tough"? Here's your "tough"!"

Ahhh, yes. That's funny stuff.

Until we meet again...

My ex-circuit overseer and his lovely wifey and my brothers and I after the last meeting we had with them. We miss them a lot. They had this grandparents-feel to them. I think they were a bit different (to me that is) than previous traveling overseers, I guess, because I was much older and took advantage more and appreciated more their experience and advice.

This was also true of the c.o. and his wife that we had before the Deleon's, the Sanchez. Sadly, we didn't have them for the entire 3 years. :( But I did have them for the Pioneer School. :) The brother was one of the awesome instructors (brother Episcopo was the other instructor) and his wife was one of us students. And if I remember correctly, she told us that time was her 4th time attending the Pioneer School! What a privilege! Being that they're like in their mid-30's, so they're pretty young to have gone to the school so many times.

Those brothers are awesome and great role models to follow, as many others. Wow, it's just encouraging thinking about these brothers. :)

I think that just made my day.

Wonderful Word #16

Pervicacious (puhr-vih-KAY-shuhs), adjective:
Refusing to change one's ideas, behavior, etc.; stubborn; obstinate.

Example use of word: Pharaoh remained pervicacious even though Jehovah had demonstrated his power through the plagues. He even threatened (in more than one occasion) the man Jehovah was speaking through... the fool (Exodus 10.27-29).

Here's another news report that gives praise to Jehovah

Buckley Report: Jehovah's Witnesses

-Matthew 5.16 "Let YOUR light shine before men, that they may see YOUR fine works and give glory to YOUR Father who is in the heavens."

Telemundo's Report on Bethel ]

A good while back, one of our elders was appointed as a circuit overseer. He and his wife left for their assignment in California. It was sad to see them go. They were always a source of encouragement. The Saturday before, our congregation combined forces with another to throw them a going-away party. It was a very nice gathering. Our last meeting with them was on the following Monday, we then took them out to eat and said our goodbyes. They have helped us so much, as a congregation and individually. We are so grateful to Jehovah for sending them our direction. Now they are off to another to help others as they helped us. But they are not the only ones that are now leaving us. We also had to say farewell to our circuit and district overseers and their wives. I will miss them. But like our ex-district overseer told me, it's a big world, but Jehovah's organization is small. We'll eventually see one another again. That's the feeling I had with our elder that was assigned to California. It was sad, but I knew I would see them again. Maybe I'll be assigned in a congregation in California.... Well, that's just California dreamin'.... Now, the word I'm looking for is 'anyway'.

No, really, it's been great having them and now we await our new C.O. and D.O. and without a doubt we will cherish them as we have cherished our past overseers.

As for our departed brothers and sisters, sin duda Jehová seguirá bendiciéndolos grandemente. (What can I say? I'm texmex.)
